Independent Filmmakers Take Center Stage as International Film Festival Descends on Chicago
9th annual Chicago International REEL Shorts Film Festival celebrates the art of short filmmaking with an event designed for practiced filmmakers and cinema fans alike
CHICAGO – More than 100 short films produced by creative minds from around the world will descend on Chicago in September for the 9th annual Chicago International REEL Shorts Film Festival. The four-day event showcases the art of short filmmaking through a celebration that offers budget movie makers an outlet to display their work on a major stage. The festival is hosted by Project Chicago, a group of filmmakers and entertainment professionals from Chicago and Los Angeles and will be held at Columbia College September 7-9. The renowned event is led by Project Chicago’s Daniel Houle and will feature a guest lecture by acclaimed filmmaker Julian Grant. Highlights include a Ron Howard Production, films starring Daniela Ruah (NCIS: Los Angeles on CBS) and Ato Essandoh (Garden State), and actress Karen Black.
